Loupe-enfermoir, for processed contrabassoons, voice & DSP (1977/1999)

from Compositures by Didier Guigue

/

about

Some amazing complex sonic properties of the contrabassoon are selected as a basis material for an inner poetic ambient also designed by a few keywords and silence.
The selected sonic objects are octave double tones, unsteady triple tones, “whirling tones”, “undertones”, “broken tones”, klangfarbenmelodien and uneven or noisy spectra produced on the lowest tones of the instrument.
Except in a few short moments, the digital processing remains in the background: its main function is to enlight the acoustic sonic properties of the selected instrumental sounds.
There is a later version for live contrabassoon and tape, recorded in the CD "Música Eletroacústica Brasileira Vol. III', 2004 (Flávio Lopes de Figueiredo Jr., cbn) [see this CD].
